Multiple Artboard Generator – Adobe Illustrator Script
Tired of manually creating and sizing artboards in Illustrator? Setting them up one by one from a list can be slow and prone to errors, especially when working with large batches of designs. The Multiple Artboard Generator script does the heavy lifting for you, automatically creating a grid of artboards based on the names and dimensions listed in a spreadsheet - all in seconds!
What does the script do?
This script generates multiple artboards in Adobe Illustrator for you from a spreadsheet ( .csv file).
You specify the names for the artboards and their dimensions in the spreadsheet file and the script will do the rest. When you run the script there is a dialogue box that will allow you to specify the units (pt, px, mm, in) as well as the spacing between the artboards.
How does it work?
-
Edit your spreadsheet ( .csv file):
- Use the provided spreadsheet file and edit it in Google Sheets or similar (Avoid using the Numbers app on a Mac as its format is not compatible with the script)
- Fill in the names, widths and heights of the artboards you'd like the script to generate in Illustrator.
-
Run the Script:
- From Adobe Illustrator: FILE - SCRIPTS - OTHER SCRIPT
- Select the script file and click "Open"
-
Select your edited spreadsheet ( .csv file):
- Click the "Select CSV button" in the script panel and select your edited spreadsheet ( .csv file)
- You will see the name of your spreadsheet in the panel once it's loaded
-
Adjust layout settings:
- Adjust the spacing between the artboards using the value in the box
- Set the units for the artboards, (pt, px, mm, in) using the Units dropdown menu
-
Generate your artboards:
- Click the "Generate" button to batch generate artboards from your spreadsheet! ( .csv file)
Besides the script you will also receive written and video instructions on how to use the script and a demo spreadsheet ( .csv file) to use with the script.
